After it's all said and done, I end up buying most of my ammo there. I joined the Buyer's Club (10% off everything except ammo, which is discounted 5%), and I have the Sportsman's Guide Visa, which gives me an additional 2.5% off.

A word of warning, however. They'll give you a flat shipping scale based on your purchase amount, with a max shipping fee of $19.95. However, if you order over a certain amount of ammo, (or anything else heavy), expect a phone call telling you that your shipping costs will be more, and they need your approval before you proceed.

They've done this to me twice. The most recent time, they told me my shipping would be an additional $50. A quick check at Ammoman.com showed me that I'd pay that much more on just one 1000 rd case of what I'd ordered, so I went ahead and authorized the additional shipping.

So after it's all said and done, they're still cheaper than most, and the actual shipping rates they charge are in line with CTD, Midway, etc. Again, don't be surprised if you get hit up for additional shipping costs if you load up on ammo.

One more note - a lot of their stuff is on backorder. But I always get it, and always at the price they advertised. You've got to keep an eye on your email, though, because if you don't reply to their emails telling you there's going to be a further delay, they'll cancel your order for that product after 10 days. FYI...

QWAK,Sportsmans guide also offers a CREDIT CARD for an additional discount!:censored::rant:

I would advise NOT geting it as I did and had lots of PROBLEMS -- they have a low limit and are reluctent to rase it,which makes them $$$ on over limit fees!:censored::rant:

I just had to FIRE them/cancel there card and REFUSED to pay OVER what I had agreed to pay! I payed every bill the day it came in so never carried a balance.

I find using my Discover card preferable to the "Sportsmans Guid" card.:shine:

They have a large government surpluss section and there prices are good on military grade equipment of all kinds. I have bought portable hospital beds,OR lights and strechers, bandages and all sorts of other things that are much higher quality then civilian equivlents and generly conciderably cheeper too!:s1:

AND...if they think you've ordered "too much" of any item, they'll decide that you're a dealer & grunt the price up, plus rape you on shipping.

I've bought from them for a good number of years, but they played this game with me earlier in the year when I wanted to place a large order (jerry cans, triox bars, backpacks, other goodies). They wanted $75 more for shipping, and had the balls to ask me if I was a dealer, or if it was for my personal use. WTF business is it of theirs????

Haven't placed an order with them since.

Sportsman's Guide is a real shady outfit. If you can find a good deal, and if they honor everything they promise, you'll be happy. Otherwise, you won't be happy...and there's a high likelihood of that. I've ordered items from them that are broken/defective out of the package, and they heehawed around about remedying the problem. They've sent me shipments in a Tyvek envelope and the contents were squashed and busted open.

I had joined their "Buyer's Club" and ended up telling them to shove it after my experiences over a couple of months.

That's interesting. You'd think it would be the opposite. All I had to do was fax MidwayUSA a copy of my class 3 FFL, and they awarded me dealer status. Saved twice the cost of getting the license on my first order. Bizarre....

What they do if they decide you're a "business" is to disallow any Buyers Club discounts, plus add the additional (non-advertised) shipping rape fees. They prefer to sell small quantities to the "little people", building additional profit into each set of shipping charges.

Real good people.:452:

On the contrary, MidwayUSA has always been a great company to deal with. No games, reasonable shipping, great discounts for FFL holders.

Brownells also offers FFL discounts (even years after your FFL has expired!!).

Sportsman's Guide also likes to sell you an item, then tell you its on backorder for a couple of months. After they finally get a shipment of it, they raise the price and cancel your backorder.

Yes they tried that with me when I ordered some stinger cci 22lr ammo 1000 rounds for 47 marked up to over 100 when they cancled.

They corrected the problem when I called up to complain however. I am still getting the original item I ordered at the original price.

The sissors in the bandage kit are easaly worth 3 to 5 times the price of the whole kit if bought at a surgical suply store!:s1:

The box is packed with all sorts of great sizes and types of bandages and dressings plus tape and lots of other usefull things!:shine:

Each kit could help a lot of people and for less than $15.00 each I am very impressed with the bandage kit!:15_1_70v::shine:

I am also ordering another STOVE FAN as it is also a great deal!Colmans surpluss has the same fan for $300.00!

I've had them raise the price on me significantly because the items were backordered. They send a "take it at the higher price or leave it" card to you in the mail. What really makes me angry about them is that I suspect they frequently advertise items they don't have on-hand (no company should have as many backorders as they do!), which increases the chance that the price of an item like ammo will go up when they go to fill your order. Don't order anything that's likely to be scarce or going fast from them if you can still get it from other vendors. Chances are they don't have it and/or you won't really get it for the advertised price. By the time you find out how badly they're going to screw you on the price, the other vendors may be sold out. Can you tell I really despise this company?
